We acknowledge and honour the mana whenua of this land – Ngāti Tama, Ngāti Mutunga, Te Ātiawa, Taranaki Iwi, Ngāruahine, Ngāti Ruanui, Ngaa Rauru, Ngāti Maru and the partnerships, participation and protection guaranteed to them under Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Their guardianship and deep connection to the whenua (land) endures across generations along with their stories, traditions, and their knowledge which has shaped the rich cultural heritage we share and celebrate. At the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery | Len Lye Centre and Puke Ariki Museum and Libraries, we share a united purpose; to create connections and open doors to learning through purposefully designed experiences.
Our newly created shared learning programme, Mīharo, weaves together the taonga, toi, and stories from the museum, gallery, libraries and across Taranaki for local, national, and international learners. Our team of passionate educators are on a mission to ignite, enrich and deepen these moments of discovery.
Our lessons link to and expand on school curriculums while inspiring learners to reflect on the world they want to build and participate in. Our special opportunities are just that, unique learning encounters that take you to surprising and exciting places. More ‘Mīharo’! That’s our goal.
With our new ‘pick-a-path’ approach, you choose the direction of your learning adventure—whether you want to dive deeper into a theme or explore a range of ideas and experiences. Explore our website for all the details and discover how we can help turn everyday lessons into unforgettable experiences.
Mīharo is proudly supported by Taranaki Regional Council and the Ministry of Education – EOTC (Education Outside the Classroom). They help us bring transformative learning experiences to life for schools and communities across Aotearoa.
