About this programme

How does our knowledge deepen when we explore the past through multiple sources?

Unlock the stories of Taranaki through a unique research experience at Te Pua Wānanga o Taranaki – the Taranaki Research Centre. This special session offers ākonga guided access to a rich collection of archival material, oral histories, manuscripts, photographs, and research files that deepen understandings of our region’s diverse histories.

Students will work with a focus question to explore a variety of primary and secondary sources, strengthening their historical inquiry skills and discovering how different types of sources shape the way we interpret events, people, and places.

This lesson is ideal for NCEA History and senior Social Sciences, by supporting critical and creative thinking, source evaluation, and strong engagement with our local stories.
