Mīharo! A word that means wonder, amazement, and awe in te reo Māori. It’s that spark you see when ākonga light up, their curiosity ignited!

Our shared learning programme flows across Govett-Brewster Art Gallery | Len Lye Centre and Puke Ariki Museum and Libraries. Our unique 'pick-a-path' approach invites classes to journey across multiple sites, choosing themed cross-curriculum pathways. Through art, taonga, stories, and hands-on exploration, ākonga connect with culture, creativity, and discovery in ways that inspire imagination and critical thinking.

You might follow the same theme across different sites, using alternative lenses to investigate or dip your toes into a variety of topics. It's your choice!

Learning extends beyond our sessions. We offer pre-visit resources and post-visit activities to support teachers in creating a deeper learning experience.

Plan a visit and participate in the wonder— say Mīharo!

Pick-a-path

With learning experiences available across the gallery, museum, and library, ‘what we learn and how we learn it’ is more dynamic than ever. With our ‘pick-a-path’ approach, you can design a learning adventure that suits your students, whether that means exploring a broad range of topics, diving deep into a specific subject, or creating a blend of both. The choice is yours!

Pick-a-path
A flexible, build your own learning journey. Teachers select from a range of Mīharo experiences across the gallery, museum, and library to create a programme tailored to their learners—mixing themes, formats, and levels to suit their goals.
